Apple A16 predictions: new LPDDR5 RAM support, a 15% increase in CPU speed, and a 25%–30% increase in GPU speed

APPLE A16 PREDICTIONS,NEW LPDDR5 RAM SUPPORT,

A 15% INCREASE IN CPU SPEED, AND A 25%.30% INCREASE IN GPU

APPLEP REDICTION,

It is anticipated that the future iPhone 14 series will be split into two groups: the Pro versions will include the new Apple A16 CPU, superior cameras, and a different screen configuration. The standard models will continue to feature a notched display, 12MP cameras, and the existing A15 chip.

Performance-wise, the current iPhone 13 series already shows a slight split: the base models feature 4-core GPUs, while the Pro models have 5-core GPUs. The Pro variants include 6GB of RAM, compared to 4GB for the other devices (both LPDDR4X).

The iPhone 14 and 14 Max will have an advantage over the existing versions thanks to the 5-core GPU version of the A15 processor and greater RAM (6GB of LPDDR4X).However, how quickly will the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max be? Macworld makes an effort to answer this. The new A16 chips will be manufactured using TSMC's N4P node, which is an incremental advancement above the N5P node utilised for the A15 but not a full generational leap.

It is anticipated that the new A16 chip will have 18–20 billion transistors, an increase from 15 billion. The organisation may experience some gains by moving to ARMv9. For instance, ARM was able to achieve some increases with the Cortex-A715 and X3 cores.

In total, the CPU might only enhance performance by a meagre 15%.

Apple is anticipated to maintain its current fundamental configuration (2 big, 4 small).

The transition to faster RAM is anticipated to improve performance as well. According to DigiTimes, the new LPDDR5 type, which offers 50 percent more bandwidth than LPDDR4X and is also more energy-efficient, will be used in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. But the storage space will remain at 6GB for both variants.Regarding the GPU,

it is expected that Apple would either increase the number of cores to 6 or continue with 5 to prevent the processor from becoming too large. In any case, a 25–30% improvement in GPU performance is anticipated.

The 14 Pro series is said to make the switch to a 48MP camera and 8K video recording, thus Apple will also need to upgrade the ISP and machine learning gear to handle the increased quality. Additionally, this can increase Cinematic Mode's maximum resolution from 1080p to 4K.

Finally, since Apple is obligated to use Qualcomm modems going forward, the A16 chipset will probably be paired with the Snapdragon X65. Unknown is whether the standard iPhone 14 devices will also receive the upgraded modem.
